Puckeridge Hunt Supporters Club

What is the PHSC and what is the history behind it?

The Puckeridge Hunt Supporters Club was formed in 1959 as a result of suggestions put to the Masters of the Puckeridge Hunt that many people living in the Puckeridge country, though not active followers, would like to support the Hunt and associate themselves with it.  The Club was established to fulfil  the wish felt by these people to give financial support to the Hunt, to show interest in the activities and welfare  of the Hunt and to get a better understanding of the pleasures and problems of hunting.  At that time Supporters Clubs were being set up by many Hunts across the Country to harness this support for hunting amongst enthusiasts who liked to follow the Hunt on foot, by bicycle or car.

What sort of things does it organise?

The Club organises a wide range of social and fund raising activities during the year.  These include a Country Fair, Dog and Heavy Horse Show, the Riding Horse Show as well as providing helpers to assist at other Hunt events such as the Point-to-Point and the Hunter trials.   In addition social events include a Bridge Day, a Quiz Night, a Darts Tournament as well as a Christmas Party and social gatherings at private houses and local pubs are arranged throughout the year. See the Forthcoming Events page for details.

Who belongs to it?

Today the membership of the Club represents a wide cross section of people who share a common interest in the countryside and enjoy seeing hounds working in the hunting field.  They follow on foot and by car. Please contact the Membership Secretary if you are interested in joining.

What are benefits of joining?

You meet a number of like-minded people who wish to foster and encourage the continuance of hunting as a legal activity in the Puckeridge Hunt country as well as supporting the Hunt financially through donations, contributions, social entertainment and sporting activities.
